  • Add that to becoming estranged from Chuck and seeing just how tentative Kim's fate from case to case could be, and Jimmy had an epiphany. I think he ultimately realized he didn't want to deal with it.īut I still won't discount what I said in an earlier post - Jimmy saw his friend try to go on the straight and narrow and gain absolutely nothing for it, and it ultimately killed him, too. The actual hard work of being an actual good lawyer? We can tell he didn't have the skills or patience. I think it would also be fair to note that the things which made him appear to be a good lawyer were the skills that made him an even better con man. We see Jimmy literally walk away from his old life in the teaser, and later we learn that Jimmy came back to town for a funeral and intentionally avoided his friend - the implication being Chuck would not have approved.Īll season long, Jimmy couldn't ignore his instincts to do the wrong thing or take shortcuts. Jimmy was obviously in a lot of trouble, and Chuck saved him. Can you imagine what that last season will be like? Seeing how the show finally puts Saul and Walter White together will garner huge attention and certainly ratings.Ĭlick to expand. It seems too simple to suggest Jimmy was only seeking Chuck's approval by going into a law career, but the season finale gives some perspective that leans in that direction. I don't see any way possible this series goes less than 3 seasons.

It could be worse-it could be Sherlock with 3 episode seasons with two year waits in between. It seems like this season just started, and it's over already. I thought they dwelled on Jimmy's backward slide to Slippin' Jimmy a bit too much in the finale, and this is where I actually favor a longer season to flesh out these character arcs. In their podcasts they always talk about how they expect the real fans of the show to put things together and pick up on subtle story elements without hitting them over the head with exposition-few other shows do this with any consistency. This show has some awesome internal story consistency going on-the call back to an off-hand remark Saul made in season 3 of BB about Kevin Costner is a testament to the respect the showrunners have for their fans.
